<p style='text-align: justify;'>Photograph, 200 x 150 cm, on mount 260 x 220 cm. The photograph shows a group of three Kandyan Chiefs in traditional costume, one seated, two standing, with two attendants, and a few spectators in the background.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'> This is a modern copy of one of 1874 once in the possession of Colonel John Younger, R.A. He served in Ceylon from September 1872 to March 1877, chiefly in command of a battery at Trincomalee, but was A.D.C. to General Henry Renny, who commmanded the troops in Ceylon 1869-1874, for nine months. This copy was given to Sir Harold Smedley in 1974, when he was British High Commission in Sri Lanka, by Major General A.E. Younger, D.S.O., O.B.E., Senior Army Member of the Directing Staff, Royal College of Defence Studies, grandson of Colonel Younger, who was leading a party of R.C.D.S. students to Sri Lanka.</p>
