<p style='text-align: justify;'>A collection of glass lantern slides measuring 82 x 82 mm. The collection reflects the CCCS's work among rural communities in Canada and the Australian outback. It includes slides of missionary vans, schools, hospitals, hymn slides, a few historical scenes and many slides demonstrating rural life. Rather more than half have identifying captions and, as far as possible, they have been arranged geographically, in both countries from east to west. It has not been possible in the case of some of the uncaptioned slides to be certain whether they show Australia or Canada (nos. 117-122).</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>The Colonial and Continental Church Society was founded in the early nineteenth century to serve the spiritual needs of English speaking people overseas. It is now known as the Intercontinental Church Society.</p>
