<p style='text-align: justify;'>This album was given to the Royal Colonial Institute by India’s High Commissioner, Atul C. Chatterjee, on behalf of his government.  Its dedication reads, 'These photographs, illustrating life and scenes in India, are presented in the hope that they will help to make the land and the people of the Indian Empire better known and understood.’</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>The photographer showed great attention to composition and aesthetics. The image depicts two farmers ploughing a semi dry soil with a motor tractor. In the foreground great emphasis is given to the vehicle, photographed while in operation. The background shows the land already dug. Through this image is of a modern motor tractor, the photographer demonstrates the advancement of the Indian agricultural system, leaving the employment of animals in the past. </p>
